For many people Japanese food is something they only eat at a restaurant.  Let’s change that.  This lovely cuisine is simple, yet takes some familiarity with unique ingredients not common to western cooking.  We will demystify the cuisine of Japan, helping you understand how to incorporate it’s flavors into your everyday meals.  It starts with precise knife cuts.  From vegetables for tempura to fish for nigiri, you’ll learn how use a knife with care.  You’ll learn the different types of miso and how they can transform proteins into more flavorful dishes where people experience the 5th flavor of umami.  And don’t forget the noodles, you’ll learn the art of homemade udon noodles and how to present them in a rich broth.

Class culminates in a family style meal served at our beautiful barnwood tables.

On the menu…nigiri sushi ~ vegetable tempura with dipping sauce ~ wakame (seaweed & cucumber salad) ~ miso marinated salmon with bok choy ~ udon noodle soup
