Pumpkin Party
What a beautiful fall season we have had so far! As the growing season slowly comes to a close, we are looking forward to sharing fall and winter flavors that have come out of the garden and into the kitchen. It has been such a fun and colorful fall season!
WHAT’S NEW
We have harvested our last big harvest of the season! Our truck was full of pumpkins and winter squash of many varieties and uses. We love the color, size, and flavor diversity we have grown this year. We have prepped most of the garden for winter with fresh compost on the beds we pulled out crops that died back. We will be leaving most of our cold hardy crops in the ground until we have harvested as much as we can off of them. These include kale, chard, broccoli, and brussels sprouts.
VARIETY HIGHLIGHT
Butternut Winter Squash
Our last winter squash to ripen in the patch, butternut is a sweet and tender squash that is ideal for roasting. It can be prepared as both sweet and savory!
MGF Tip: Leaving your butternut squash to cure for 10 to 14 days in a warm and well-ventilated area will help with shelf life and flavor.
