Spring 2025 has Sprung!

Spring 2025 has Sprung!

Happy April from the garden at Middleground Farms! It has been a busy few weeks around the farm as we gear up for our biggest growing season yet.

April is the month things really get going here in the Willamette Valley and we are getting so excited for it. In the greenhouse I have seeded thousands of seeds from spring lettuces and greens to pea shoots, tomatoes, and even some cut flowers. The very first spring lettuces and arugula were planted outside just a couple days ago in hopes of some early spring harvests. My first spring harvest happened to be some gorgeous pea shoots that Chef Katie used on her beautiful plates for her Chef Showcase Dinner. So tasty!!

In addition to vegetables, I will be doing some big landscaping projects this spring all around the farm and kitchen garden. Many of the new trees and shrubs will be edible species, others will be PNW native species, and others will simply be bringing some beautiful colors and textures to the garden. Much more on this project to come soon make sure to follow the farm blog all season long.

With all the fun things going on, you will absolutely want to find yourself in the garden at Middleground Farms this spring!

Best,

Farmer John
