Daniel Estrin
Winemaker & Vineyard Manager
Daniel found wine by way of his Uncle Mark, founder of Red Car Wines. After working a couple of harvests at Red Car, he traveled to the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, working harvests at Craggy Range, Mount Langi Ghiran, Domaine de la Côte, and Bodega Chacra. Daniel returned to California to attend Cal Poly–San Luis Obispo where he completed his B.S. in Viticulture with a minor in Soil Science and Plant Protection. Post-graduation, he accepted an internship at Littorai Wines. That internship led to a full time position that ultimately resulted as Daniel serving as the Associate Winemaker.
His time working with the Lemon family was instrumental in shaping the kind wine and farming he wanted to do for the rest of his career. In 2019, Daniel returned to his birthplace of Oregon to work for Cristom Vineyards. Through a partnership with an incredible team, he implements progressive farming practices to help Cristom become a more self-sustaining farm and craft elegant expressions of wine from the Willamette Valley.
More About Cristom Vineyards
Cristom Vineyards was established in 1992 by the Gerrie family to grow and craft distinguished wines of place that honor individual sites and traditional techniques. Family-owned for over thirty years, we remain stewards of our east-facing volcanic hillside in the Eola-Amity Hills focused on growing benchmark Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Bringing together biodynamic and organic farming methods, we farm the land with the next 100-years in mind. Our winegrowing centers on the philosophy that the greatest expression of terroir produces the finest wines. The cornerstone of our winemaking is rooted in traditional methods – site selection, low yields, whole-cluster fermentation and native yeasts – to produce balanced, dynamic wines of intensity, structure and length.
