Chris Fladwood

Chris Fladwood

Director of Winemaking & Viticulture

Born and raised in Oregon, Chris Fladwood considers himself to be what we’d call a true Oregonian—kind in nature, slow driving, and considerate of others. Coming from a diverse background, including service in the United States Army and harvest work in Washington state, Bordeaux, and New Zealand, Chris spent years learning as much as he could about wine and winemaking.

Eventually, his interest grew into a passion that ultimately led to him earning a degree from WSU in Viticulture and Enology. In 2009, Chris Joined Soter Vineyards’ winemaking team as Cellar Master. Over the years, he has worked his way up, mastering every level along the way to achieve his current position as Director of Winemaking & Viticulture.

More About Soter Vineyards

Native Oregonians Tony and Michelle Soter founded Soter Vineyards in 1997, following Tony’s distinguished career as a consulting winemaker, organic farmer, and the founder of Etude in Napa, California. Today, the winery and tasting room are situated on the 250-acre Mineral Springs Ranch, which is certified by both CCOF and Demeter. This diverse haven for food and wine is located in the heart of Oregon’s wine country. From vineyard to cellar, Soter Vineyards is dedicated to organic and biodynamic farming practices, employing light-handed cellar techniques to craft authentic expressions of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and sparkling wines.

Chris Fladwood, the Director of Winemaking & Viticulture, produces wines of the highest caliber while respecting the earth. His innovative approach allows a unique voice to emerge from the ancient soils and temperate climate of the region. Guests at Mineral Springs Ranch enjoy an elevated hospitality experience driven by a creative culinary program that aligns with Soter’s sustainable farming practices. In addition to Mineral Springs Ranch, Soter Vineyards owns and farms several other vineyard sites within the Northern Willamette Valley. Together with their estate-grown wines, they produce select bottlings under their Soter Origin Series and Planet Oregon labels.
