Anna Sweet
Founder
Anna Sweet, founder and CEO of Artist Block Winery, is redefining the winery experience by blending her passions for art and wine into a unique and unconventional business. A successful artist, Sweet discovered wine in 2018 while living in Key West, quickly becoming captivated by the industry. After some soul searching, she and her husband Steve decided to move mountains and relocate to Oregon in 2019, where they purchased land in the Dundee Hills and planted vines. Artist Block Winery, which opened in 2023, reflects Sweet’s vision of combining high-quality wines with a creative, relaxed atmosphere, free from the usual pretentiousness of the wine world.
More About Artist Block
Sweet’s approach to wine is playful and innovative, with wines named “Woo Juice” (a burgundian style Chardonnay) and “Cha-Ching Cha-Ching” (a sparkling pet nat of Gamay) and a tasting room filled with vibrant pop art and lively music. She wanted to create a space that welcomed all wine drinkers, particularly those who might feel excluded by traditional wine culture. The tasting room also doubles as an art gallery, showcasing Sweet’s work alongside emerging artists. Sweet’s goal is to create a place for connection and inspiration, where guests can enjoy wine and art in an authentic and enjoyable way.
In addition to her winery, Sweet continues to push boundaries with events that combine wine, food, and art in unexpected ways. From “Sip and Splash” pool parties to immersive film and dining experiences, Sweet is always searching for new ways to entertain and inspire. With the opening of a new wine bar in downtown Newberg, Sweet is expanding her vision, creating spaces where both art and wine thrive together. Driven by her entrepreneurial spirit, she is determined to build something unique that resonates with her passion for creativity and connection.
