Josh McDaniels
CEO & Director of Winemaking
Josh McDaniels was born and raised in Walla Walla and at an early age fell in love with the wine industry. In fact, he started his own winery during high school. It was here in Walla Walla at the Leonetti Cellar where he first toiled with and witnessed the hard work and beauty that goes into creating a premium wine.
The wine industry captivated him from both an entrepreneurial and wine standpoiont and prompted his formal education from the Institute of Enology and Viticulture in Walla Walla while, at the same time, continuing to work under his long-time mentor, Chris Figgins of Leonetti.
To further his educatoin , Josh took extension courses through Washington State University and U.C. Davis and also interned in Argentina at Paul Hobbs’ Vina Cobos Winery. He has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and is currently working on his MBA with Washington State University.
In addition to CEO & Director of Winemaking, Josh in a partner in Bledsoe Wine Estates. He has been named a “Game Changer in Washington Wine”, a “Washington Prodigy”, and a “Top 40 Under 40 TAstmakers of America” from Wine Enthusiast magazine.
He has served on a number of non-profit boards, including as the former Board President of the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance and currently as a board member for Washington Winegrowers Association. Josh lives in Walla Walla with his wife, Kim, and their three children.
More About Bledsoe | McDaniels
Just as each child brings something innately unique to a family, or each player brings an irreplaceable skill set to a team, the wines we created are truly deserving of their own label and recognition-thus became Bledsoe|McDaniels.
For many years now, both of us have been constantly intrigued by the beautiful wines coming out of the Willamette Valley, while simultaneoulsy gaining a deep understanding of Syrah here in Wall Walla. While these two wines and valleys have obvious differences in the glass, as we dove deeper, we were constantly reminded of the undeniable similarities between the two.
Over the years, our relationship has grown tremendously and has long been more than an owner/employee situation and we began talking about how to solidify that level of trust. We both have a great passion for wine, are ultra-competitive to make only the best qualitative examples, and are willing to take risks and go off the beaten path to do so.
