Dan Walsh
Lead Educator
Dan Walsh brings over 15-year experience within the food and beverage industry, commencing in restaurants and flourishing through diverse roles in the wine business. His experience led him to the role of Jackson Family Wines Oregon Wine Educator in the Willamette Valley, a position he’s held since 2020. Whether it’s telling a story about the Willamette Valley or getting guests hooked on the many styles of Sangiovese, his passion and enthusiasm for wine is contagious.
Since 2023, Dan embarked on a new chapter, joining the esteemed National Education Team at Jackson Family Wines as a Regional Wine Educator. His journey
through the wine realms found its grounding in Sonoma County, and since 2019, Oregon has been his cherished home. Beyond his oenophilic pursuits, Dan can be found hiking, traveling, exploring new culinary adventures, and foraging the bountiful forests along the West Coast.
More About Gran Moraine
Oregon wines with a signature style of elegance and restraint, Gran Moraine produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and sparkling wines from the Willamette Valley. Our estate vineyards, Gran Moraine Vineyard and our Winery Estate Vineyard, perch on the oldest marine sedimentary-based soils in the Yamhill-Carlton sub-AVA of the northern Willamette Valley. Our wines showcase Winemaker Shane Moore’s tireless attention to detail in both the vineyard and the winery, which translates to precision and elegance in the bottle.
Gran Moraine wines shine a light on the monologue of the Gran Moraine Vineyard, lifting its voice and vibrant energy through a signature style of elegance and restraint, with a fresh through-line of acidity. A style—in many ways antithetical to the natural tendencies of the Yamhill-Carlton sub-AVA—that has established the winery as not only a Pinot Noir, but a Chardonnay and sparkling wine leader in the Willamette Valley.
Our vineyard is nestled in the eastern foothills of Oregon’s Coastal Range, on the wild western edge of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, the range’s peaks to the west and south buffer maritime winds and rain from the Pacific Ocean, creating a more temperate growing season distinct from neighboring vineyard sites. Planted in 2005-2006 to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay Dijon clones, the 194-acre vineyard perches in thin marine sedimentary soils, and diversity of block exposures and elevation offer a diverse palette for our farming and winemaking team.
